The Response phase occurs immediately after a disaster or event impacts your organization or community. During this phase organizations, businesses and communities have had their services disrupted, and are not functioning as normal. The level of Preparedness directly impacts an organization’s or agency’s ability to Respond in an expeditious manner. The Response is the execution of applicable plans and the deployment of staff and equipment identified during the preparedness phase. The response phase occurs during an emergency.

- Deploy required staff and equipment
- Activate Staging Sites (if necessary)
- Request Mutual Aid (if necessary)
- Monitor Procurement activities and validate documentation of overtime to ensure compliance with FEMA Public Assistance (PA) requirements for reimbursement (for eligible)
- Activate Emergency Operations Plans (EOP)
- Activate Emergency Operations Centers (EOC)
- Begin information gathering to base response
- The securing of contractors - equipment and material
